CAIMANs project presented its final event with an international workshop on "Mitigating air pollution in Mediterranean Port-Cities"
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nice côte d'Azur - Riviera Ports gathered all the partners of MERMAID in Nice for the Final Meeting of the project. During the meeting, the partners presented their final deliverables and exchanged on the possible development of MERMAID.

After one year of project, the MERMAID consortium will gather in Nice for the closure of the project, on the 28th and 29th of May
Hosted by Regional Government of Tuscany, Lead Partner of the project, the conference will take place on Tuesday 12th May 2015 at Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence (Italy). Its main aim is to share the findings and results of the MITOMED project and to discuss ideas for governance of M&C tourism and for future initiatives in this field.
The POSEIDON Consortium presented the projects results at two International Conferences namely the 17th International Conference on Aerosol Science and Technology (ICAST 2015, Lisbon 16-17 April 2015) and European Geosciences Union General Assembly (EGU2015, Wien 12-17 April 2015).
On 12th May 2015 the Regional Government of Tuscany will host at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, via Cavour 1 Florence (Hall Luca Giordano), the Final Conference of the project MITOMED, entitled “Challenges and Perspectives for Coastal And Maritime Tourism in Europe”.
The first Enercoast workshop, which will take place in Athens next 23rd April 2015, will allow the elaboration of a list of proposals to address the needs of research and technological innovation to reduce the production and operating costs, to improve the energy balance, to reduce the environmental impacts, to overcome the bureaucracy aspects, to enhance the legislation, to promote new production chains, etc., in accordance with the needs pointed out by the stakeholders during the meetings.
On the beginning of March, the project partners and members of the Advisory Group of MERMAID gathered in A Coruna for the 2nd Advisory Group Meeting of the project.
Tuscany Region will organise on 9th April 2015 in Livorno, at Goldoni Theatre, its regional focus group.
A public conference on "Mediterranean: ships, harbours and cities" was organized jointly
by the three Maritime integrated projects: CAIMANs , POSEIDON and SMARTPORT, with the collaboration of MarINaMED. The presentation of POSEIDON preliminary outcomes can be downloaded here.
The NEMO partner ERFC participated and intervened in the workshop “Sea routes for Development in Adriatic-Ionian macro-region” organized by Europe Direct Office of the Region of Western Greece in Patras on 12/11/2014, in the framework of Regional Open Days.
On the 14th of April in Brussels, about 10 Mediterranean Regions will meet in order to discuss, under the coordination of NECSTouR, the outcomes of the first part of the project, gathered into one document called the GAP analysis.
On 19th-20th March 2015 Larnaca District Development Agency will host the 3rd transnational meeting of MITOMED project.
The MedTrends project team will attend the next Marina-Med event "Enhancing Integrated Maritime Policy in the Mediterranean basin" on March 4, 2015 in Brussels.
The MERMAID project will be present at the 8th edition of the French Meetings of port activities and Sustainable development that will take place in Nice on the 25th and 26th of March 2015.
Air pollutant emissions due to cruise traffic have been calculated for the year 2013 in the five cities of Barcelona, Genoa, Marseilles, Venice and Thessaloniki.

The MERMAID project has organized its first Advisory Group Meeting in Barcelona
Held in Thessaloniki on the 27th and 28th of November 2014 the CAIMANs’ Mid Term Meeting was hosted by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and recorded the participations of the other CAIMANs partners from Barcelona (CSIC-IDAEA), Marseille (AirPACA), Genoa (University of Genoa) and Venice (ARPAV).
Held in Barcelona on the 1st and 2nd of July 2014 the CAIMANs’ start up meeting gathered the 5 partners from Barcelona (CSIC-IDAEA), Marseille (AirPACA), Genoa (University of Genoa), Venice (ARPAV) and Thessaloniki (Aristotle University) together with MED-JTS and MARINAMED representatives for the beginning of the of project activities.
The potential impact on air quality of harbour and ship emissions is a growing concern in the Mediterranean area. POSEIDON and CAIMANs projects have organized a workshop to show methodologies and preliminary results on this topic obtained by the two projects putting in evidence potential synergies
