The present Policy Paper presents recommendations gathered throughout the period of implementation of the 13 Med Maritime Projects approved by the last call of proposals of the Med Programme (2007-2013).

“Challenges for the Integrated Maritime Policy for the Mediterranean Sea” was a conference organized by the Government of Catalonia in the framework of the COM&CAP MarInA-Med project (Med Programme 2007-2013), aiming at discussing the enhancement of the Integrated Maritime Policy and approach in the Mediterranean.

"Setting sails at the docks" The INTERREG MED Programme 2014-2020 will be approved this summer. We inform you that on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 in Marseilles there will be the Programme Kick-Off.
The seminar in Florence created a space for a debate among the Med Maritime Integrated projects and opened the reflection on how to move towards a more sustainable and qualitative Maritime and Coastal tourism.
Ports indeed constitute connections to touristic infrastructures and can influence the attractiveness of tourist facilities. For cruises companies, efficient, attractive and well-connected ports are therefore an additional value to the destination
A strategy needs to be defined in order to increase the competitiveness of the ports in the Mediterranean in comparison to Northern Europe Ports. The focus on economic competitiveness is a strategic value to be developed since for its achievement it will encourage and promote the focus on efficiency and efficacy of the ports.

Med Maritime Projects are the bridge between the two programming periods with the definition of the state-of-the-art and the proposition of orientations for Blue Growth in the Mediterranean.
The Med Maritime Projects TOURMEDASSET, MITOMED, CoRINThos, FishMPABlue, NEMO, presented their prelimirary results and discussed synergies between the different maritime uses

Med Maritime Projects Mid-Term Conference- March, 4th - Brussels (BE)
MarInA Med took part to the CAIMANs project meeting “Mediterranean ships, ports and cities” (Mediterraneo: navi, porti e città), celebrated in Genoa last 10th of February 2015.
Register to the COM&CAP MarInA-Med web platform and get connected to a network of hundreds of experts, professionals, academics, NGOs, private companies, etc… sharing stakes and seeking for cooperation in the Mediterranean.
INTERACT publishes a study on Cross-Border Cooperation in Maritime Programmes over 2007-2013 The study focuses on 14 maritime cross-border programmes in the Mediterranean, Baltic, and North-East Atlantic sea basins.
Blue energies are a cross-cutting issue that involves other relevant sectors such as tourism, aquaculture, shipbuilding and ship repair, transport activities, from which synergies could be enhanced through the role of maritime clusters.
More than 80 participants, coming from various levels of organizations related to the blue energy sector, came to discuss the state of development and perspectives of marine renewable energies in the Mediterranean basin
Synergies and cross-fertilization activities between the projects are taking place. These practices will definitely enrich the projects results, which will be useful to fulfill the essential idea of the integrated maritime approach call.
COM&CAP MarInA-Med is ready to present its first preliminary policy recommendations built upon the key results of the 13 maritime projects part of the “Integrated Maritime approach” call (Med 2007-2013) that were presented in the COM&CAP Capitalization seminars.

“What Future for Fisheries in the Adriatic-Ionian Basin?” is the first capitalization event launched by the COM&CAP MArInA-Med project.

The launch event of the 14 Med Maritime projects selected in the frame of the MED "integrated maritime approach" call took place July 15-16, 2014 in Marseilles, France.
All the indicators developed within Med-IAMER project are now accessible to the wide public through the SDI-MED platform.
Urban ports face daily difficulties due to a variety of environmental impacts generated by ships in port. The port plays a crucial role between the ships operators and the local community, be it official stakeholders, environmental associations or individual most sensitive citizens.

CAIMANs project is presenting its final event with an international workshop on "Mitigating air pollution in Mediterranean Port-Cities"
A summary of the main contents and outcomes of the MITOMED Final Conference " Challenges and Perspectives for Coastal and Maritime Tourism in Europe", held in Florence on 12th May 2015.
For their two last visits, the MERMAID consortium has selected the ports of Riga, capital city of Latvia, and Helsinki, in Finland.
Med-IAMER will present its results and outputs in the conference “Challenges for the Integrated Maritime Policy for the Mediterranean Sea".
Med-IAMER participated in the seminar with a presentation of the coastal tourism indicators developed by the project.
For their 5th visit, the partners of MERMAID gathered in the port of Piraeus in Greece.
20 April 2015 Messolonghi (Greece)
The meeting starts with the welcome of Nikolas Petropoulos and the vice Mayor of Messolonghi in charge for local development. He talks about potentiality of the area and of the lagoon for sustainable tourism and confirms its commitment for the exchange of experience and good practice transfer to develop fisheries related tourism in the area of Messolonghi laguna and to capitalize on achieved results.
Members of the POSEIDON project consortium participated at the 4rth Capitalization Event "Ports towards Accessibility and Sustainable Maritime Transport in the Med", Malaga, 14 April 2015.
Tuscany Region Focus Group meeting titled “Which proposals for the development of the sustainable tourism of maritime and coastal Tuscany?”, held on 9th April 2015 in Livorno, had the aim to present the results achieved by the project and to focus, with the contribution of all participants, on possible ideas and proposals to be included in MITOMED Action Plan.
The third official MITOMED event, consisting of the 3rd transnational meeting and of the 2nd Steering Committee, took place in Cyprus on 19th-20th March 2015, hosted by ANETEL.

Med-IAMER Project organizes its second Stakeholders’ consultation “Trans-boundary mechanisms to mitigate environmental risks in the Mediterranean Sea” in Málaga on April 14th 2015.
